We need your help…

While the library is staffed and operated by volunteers, there are expenses to keep the library collection available in a public space. Donations are welcome to continue the library operations.

Information about making cash donations is included here.

In addition to cash and legacy donations the library accepts donations of items for the collection if the materials are in good condition. In particular, we seek materials related to railroads serving Washington, D.C. area and any information related to the Pullman Company, their operations, and to the railcars they built, especially the Dover series of sleeper-lounge-buffet cars.

At this time, we are not accepting donations of recent year periodical magazines unless they are of an unusual nature and in good condition.

Please contact us directly if you have questions or are interested in making a donation of books or materials to our collection. If small, you may mail your gift to us as well.

The National Railway Historical Society, Washington, D.C. Chapter, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization. As such gifts to the library and Chapter are tax-deductible to the maximum extent permitted by the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. We will provide you an acknowledgment letter for your gift upon request.
